Thank you for this fascinating article Elisa.

Joni's early albums have been part of the fabric of my life for more than forty years, since I was a tiny kid. I came to CS&N later, and never realised the connection. I had a magical shiver up the spine when I finally discovered that 'Our House' and 'Ladies of the Canyon' came from the same place.

Ever since that moment the canyon and the house gained even more quasi-mystical significance for me. I would love to be there back in time, sitting in the yard in the dappled light, and stroking those two cats, and listening to them play to each other - but since that will never be possible, this page is all I've got.

I have wanted to see the house for years, and you have provided a wonderful insight. Thank you so much for the words and pictures, and I'm so glad you got the opportunity to see it.

Hi Patricia! It's so exciting to hear from you! The bags in the photo above were sold in my shop, and you can see others in the "handbags" section of the "clothing for sale" on this website. I also personally have a wonderful collection of what I think are quite unusual ones; I'd love to photograph them and hear your thoughts. I never saw a belt, but I have a belt buckle. Thank you for your answers to my other readers' questions. I will write to you and send photos to your email address when I return from the short trip I'm on. Elisa

Hi Elisa,
I decided to email you after seeing the array of Moon Bags you have! so fun for me to see after these years. Never did we think that these would be in vintage collections when we were producing the bags. I did stop making the bags in the mid 90s but still have quiet a collection myself and it is reassuring to see that others do also. I did enjoy the years designing and making these bags. If you have any further questions please email me. In answer to the above emails - we did make a design with a crescent moon and i have a small selection of handles left but not a crescent moon. On the finishing of moon bags - as I had many finishers over the years but none at this time, maybe a good designer/sewer can be of help. On the belt - i think this may be a moon belt as we did make one so described -
the small thin straps wrap over the wider strap and tie through the hole in the buckle.

I recently found a leather sash with a lacquered buckle having the moon bag label and a floral motif. I've never seen a moon bag belt before and the problem is that the leather sash wasn't attached properly and I can't figure out how it should be attahced. The sash has one wide end and one narrow with a velcro strip so it can be folded over to make a loop which apparently attaches to the buckle. but there are also two long leather cords attached to the narrow end on the inside/underside of the sash and they are sewn both going in the same direction so it doesn't work to wrap around the body going in opposite directions then meeting to tie.

The buckle has two holes- one long large and one small and it would make sense that the narrow end loops into the small hole.... but then I don't know what one is supposed to do with the two long cords, and the wide end of the sash loops into the larger hole.

Any advice or thoughts?
