Random Stuff We Like

Last year we bought a bonanza: 150 original wrap DVF wrap dresses from the family of a man who had worked for her in the 70s. They were featured in New York magazine, sold like mad, and got the attention of DVF herself (who bought many for her archives.)  We sold them all very quickly, but I did keep a few for myself, and this one I’m willing to part with. This ground-breaking design has never really gone out of style; why not own an original? Measures 34″ bust, 24-26″ waist, 43″ long. Never worn.

Wool jersey. Measures 35″ bust, waist and hips, 34″ length.

We love the wool boucle knits that Adolfo made his signature in the 70s: they’re comfortable yet always look sophisticated. This coat is the best example of his work that we’ve seen. Completely fitted for a sexy look. Beige wool boucle knit with a brown spec throughout. Great gold buttons feature lion heads. Very small, measuring 33″ bust, 24″ waist, 21″ sleeves, 50″ length (slightly stretchy.) Repair to a hole at the back of the neck, perfect otherwise.

It’s so hard to find good quality wool sweaters from the 70s, but this one is the best we’ve seen. Great knit and colors, bell sleeves, even a hood…it’s got it all. Measure 50″ long, with extra long sleeves. Love it!

Ceil Chapman, Marilyn Monroe’s favorite designer, was known for her high-end cocktail dresses that echoed the silhouette of Christian Dior’s “New Look.” Today, her dresses are among the most coveted vintage items. This amazing dress features three layers and yards (too many to note) of hot pink hombre silk chiffon. It’s gorgeous…feminine, sexy and quite rare. Measures 33″ bust, 24″ waist, and 41″ length. Mint condition.

Sexy, shimmery silk dress is very flattering. Elastic waist give it form and movement. Hook and eye at bust to wear open or more demurely. Label reads, “Diana Dickinson.” Measures 36″ bust, 26″ elastic waist (stretches larger), 35″ length. Love!

It’s difficult to find good examples of 70s peasant tops. I love the Mexican ones best. This style should fit a variety of sizes because it’s oversized. Cotton gauze with satin trim. 26″ length.

Amazing Emilio Pucci silk jersey top. Stretchy for a great fit. Measures 36-38″ bust, 26-30″ waist, 19″ sleeves, 21″ length.  

Leave it to wild child Jean Paul Gaultier to create an irreverent line of print shirts that are sheer, sexy and after all these years, still edgy. The graphics on these are so amazing, the fit perfect, thanks to the stretch mesh, and the colors are somehow bold and neutral at the same time. Measures 30-38″ bust, 23″ sleeves, 23″ long.
