It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with handbags. I’m still surprised by what I find even after collecting them for 25 years. I’ve owned vintage purses shaped like poodles, ones made from sterling silver, some crafted by prisoners and one that lit up when you opened it. But the ones I reach for when I’m running out the door are always big leather sacs…utilitarian yet stylish.

80s Snakeskin, Tweed and Leather Collage Bag

I love collage bags because I adore texture. This bag is made of textured leather, snakeskin, tweed and has a great wooden buckle and tassel on the zipper closure. By “Seven Handbags by Dimitri.” Measures 14″ x 12″ x 9″. Excellent condition.

20s Embroidered Floral Purse

Gatsby Era, Art Deco purse is just lovely. It’s entirely hand-embroidered in bright colored flowers (wool.) It has a nicely ornamented silver frame and chain handle. The clasp slides over the frame and securely holds it closed. The interior is a pale green taffeta-like fabric. The purse measures 9.5″ x 8″ with a 16 inch chain handle. I was told that it had been made in Scotland in the 1920s. The perfect cure for Gatsby fever!
