Designer and Other Great Stuff

Though we always have those specific pieces we long for and seek out every season, we also never know what we’re going to find on our shopping adventures, so this category is simply for those orphan items we love for a plethora of different reasons.

50s Black Silk Cocktail Dress – All Handmade

I don’t even know how to begin except to say this is one of the nicest 50s cocktail dresses I have ever seen. The fabric is shockingly complex: pieces of silk organza zig-zagged onto netting to form a lacey effect. The netting gives the extra lightweight and soft fabric some structure, especially in the skirt area, which is very 50s. Extra fine detail at the neckline. Hidden side zipper closure. Velvet spaghetti straps. Measures 34″ bust, 24-26″ slightly elasticized waist, 42″ length. Channel your inner Audrey and wear this for the holidays! Glam and feminine. Would look great with a crinoline. All original and in excellent condition!

70s Wool Fringe Sweater Vest

I just love fur and knit vests for their fashion AND function. This one is 100% wool, NOT (as was typical in the 70s) acrylic…very fine quality, possibly hand knit. Great design, with cabled detail and fringe as well. Label reads, “It’s Rich Made In Hong Kong 9/10 100% Wool Dry Clean Only.” Meant to be worn open, but closed it measures 38″ bust and 29″ length with the fringe. Great layering piece. Excellent condition!

60s Plaid Wool Fitted Princess Coat

Coat has a flattering fitted style and we love the fabric and print, which is neutral so it’s easy to mix with other colors and items. Fully lined in brown rayon. Pockets, cute belt and bakelite-like buttons. “I Magnin & Co.” and “Harrods California Paris Rome” labels. S-M: measures 34″ bust, 32″ waist, 16″ shoulder, 23″ sleeves, 39″ length. Mint (looks unworn) condition.

Shown with a cashmere scarf and fur collar (neither is included.)

50s Hand Made Cashmere or Wool Shrug Sweater

I just love shrugs for their fashion AND function. It feels like cashmere, but could be a fine wool. All hand made/knit. Great design, great color and so practical. Meant to be worn open, but closed it measures 30″ bust (by my calculations it would fit up to a 38″ bust, open) 15″ length and 12″ slightly-bell sleeves. Excellent condition!
